Alfred Schreuder to replace Ten Hag at Ajax

          2022/05/12 15:22

Ajax have announced that Alfred Schreuder will be the next coach of the Amsterdam club following Erik ten Hag’s departure to Manchester United.

Schreuder worked as an assistant to Steve McClaren at FC Twente, Julian Nagelsmann at Hoffenheim, and then Ten Hag himself at Ajax for the 2018/19 season.

The 49-year old spent a season in charge of Hoffenheim before returning to being an assistant at Barcelona under Ronald Koeman.

This season has seen him once again become the main man at Belgian side Club Brugge, with his team finishing second behind Union Saint-Gilloise in the regular season and currently topping the play-off stage.

The coach signed a deal at the club until June 2024 and told the Ajax website: "I would like to win prizes in Amsterdam with a team that plays attractive football. With a good balance between experienced top players and the many big talents. But first I want to finish the season successfully with Club Brugge. Saying goodbye with the top prize, that's very important and I will do everything I can to achieve that."
