Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Divock Origi will leave Liverpool this summer - and believes the forward will be given a "special reception" at Anfield on Sunday.
Signed from Lille in 2014, Origi famously scored in the Reds' Champions League final win over Tottenham in 2019, but he is now set to depart Merseyside - with AC Milan reportedly favourites to sign the striker on a free transfer.
The Belgium international has been limited to just 175 appearances and 68 starts during his Liverpool career - but many of his 41 goals over that period have been memorable. Origi has scored six derby strikes against Everton, a brace in the Champions League semi-final comeback against Barcelona in 2019 and the aforementioned strike against Spurs in the final of that competition.
Now 27, Origi is likely to be on the bench for Liverpool's final Premier League game of the season at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers - against whom he scored a matchwinner back in December. The Reds are aiming for a victory in the hope Manchester City will drop points against Aston Villa in the final chapter of a thrilling title race.
In a press conference on Friday, Klopp stated that Origi was the only first-team squad member currently expected to leave in the summer and spoke of his admiration for the forward.
"He is and will be for me forever a Liverpool legend, one of the most important players I ever had," said Klopp.
"That sounds completely strange given the amount of games he had, but it is and was a pure joy to work together with him. It's not over yet - just the last Premier League game - but he deserves all good thoughts we can generate somehow for his future, and wherever he will go he will be successful, 100%.
"An outstanding player, an outstanding boy, everybody in the team loves him because he's just a relaxed guy and a really lovable guy. It will be a harsh moment when he actually leaves, it will for us not be now, but whenever it will be it will be harsh.
"Since I'm here Div is here. I remember so many things when I think about Div that's incredible, some important goals, some bad injuries, ups and downs. He is a Liverpool legend, no doubt."
