Manchester City striker Julian Álvarez scored six goals in River Plate’s Copa Libertadores thrashing over Peruvian side Alianza Lima.
Álvarez took home two match balls and become the first player to score 6+ goals in a game ever for the historic Argentinian club.
It's also just the second time anyone has done it in the Copa Libertadores. It was another Argentinian that time too, Juan Carlos Sánchez of Bolivian side Club Blooming was the first in 1985.
Unsurprisingly, River Plate finished top of Group F in the Libertadores with that win with winless Alianza Lima dead last.
22-year old Álvarez is playing his final games for his club after officially signing a five-and-a-half-year contract with the Manchester club in January before being loaned back to River. He’ll be competing with Erling Haaland next season but if he keeps on scoring six goals a game he shouldn’t have to worry about the Norwegian.
