Gareth Bale made his debut for Los Angeles FC following the Welsh international’s move from Real Madrid in a game that also saw Giorgio Chiellini's first appearance.
Bale came off the bench against Nashville SC in the 72nd minute as a replacement for former Barcelona youth product Ilie Sánchez. LAFC were already 2-1 up after goals from Cristián Arango and José Cifuentes with Hany Mukhtar scoring Nashville’s only goal of the game from the penalty spot.
The game was also the first glimpse of Giorgio Chiellini in America. The Italian started the game and played an hour in his debut after moving to the MLS from Juventus.
LAFC currently top the MLS Western Conference by a single point over Austin FC and with a game in hand. Bale and Chiellini should return to action next Sunday when the Los Angeles side travel to Sporting Kansas City.
"It felt amazing. I was itching from the first half. As soon as I got on the bench I wanted to try and get off and help the team. It was also important for me to get my fitness."
