Bayern Munich have completed the signing of central defender Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus in a £68m deal.
De Ligt joined Juve from Ajax for an initial €75m (about £62m) back in 2019 after impressing at a young age. Since then, the Dutch international has played 117 games for the Old Lady and won the Scudetto in 2020.
But now De Ligt has completed his move to the Bundesliga and has signed a five-year deal with Bayern to keep him at the club until 2027.
“Matthijs de Ligt has impressed at the highest international level, not just with his technical qualities but also as a character who leads in all his teams,” said Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn.
“At his young age he's already learned about taking responsibility. A strong team doesn't just require a strong attack, and with this signing we're really raising our defence to the top level.”
The serial German champions have had a busy summer, having also signed Sadio Mané from Liverpool and Ajax duo Noussair Mazraoui and Ryan Gravenberch, as well as losing Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona.
