Manchester City kicked off their pre-season preparations with a 2-1 win over Club América in Houston, Texas.
Julian Alvarez, Stefan Ortega Moreno and Kalvin Phillips played their first game as Manchester City players, while Erling Haaland was kept on the bench due to "a minor injury complaint," according to the club's official site.
All of the goals hapenned in the first-half, with the first coming from Kevin De Bruyne, who opened the scoring for the Premier League champions with a superb curled strike from outside the box at the half-hour mark.
Club América levelled the game 13 minutes later, after Henry Martin latched onto a lofted ball over the top and checked inside Nathan Ake before squeezing the ball between Ortega Moreno’s legs.
On the stroke of half-time, Riyad Mahrez made an exquisite pass into the box for the onrushing De Bruyne, who finished expertly.
Man City's next pre-season game will be against Bayern Munich at the iconic Lambau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin on Saturday.
