Bournemouth shocked Aston Villa with a win on their return to the Premier League thanks to goals from Jefferson Lerma and Kieffer Moore.
Steven Gerrard handed debuts to new signings Diego Carlos and Boubacar Kamara but it was Scott Parker’s team who took the lead after just three minutes at the Vitality Stadium.
An early corner swung in by Marcus Tavernier wasn’t dealt with by the Villa defence, with the ball eventually falling to Jefferson Lerma to bury.
Bournemouth did well to limit Villa two just two chances on target, with the Villans often resorting to long-range efforts.
Wales international Moore sealed the Cherries’ win in the 80th minute when he headed in past Emiliano Martínez from Lloyd Kelly’s cross.
If today’s test wasn’t enough for Bournemouth they’re back in action next Saturday against the defending champions, Manchester City.
