According to self-proclaimed football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Leeds United are exploring the possibility of signing Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie.
McKennie is believed to be valued at around 25 million euros by The Old Lady and would take Leeds’ January transfer window spending past £50 million.
The Yorkshire club have signed two players in this window with the arrivals of Max Wober from Red Bull Salzburg for around £11 million and a £24.8 million initial fee spent on Georginio Rutter from 1899 Hoffenheim.
Jesse Marsch’s recruitment since arriving at Elland Road has been heavily focused on signing players that he has worked with before at RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig. McKennie does not fall into that category but the US international is a compatriot of Marsch and links will be drawn there.
The former Schalke midfielder was a part of the United States side that reached the Round of 16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, eventually losing to the Netherlands.
Leeds are in another relegation battle in the Premier League with Marsch under pressure. They had been linked with Morocco’s star from the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Azzedine Ounahi, as an alternative to McKennie.
