Tottenham Hotspur’s director of football, Fabio Paratici, will have to step down after Fifa confirmed the former player’s ban would be enforced worldwide.
Paratici was one of a number of Juventus executives to be sanctioned by the Italian FA back in January for the club’s false accounting. The Italian giants were also handed a 15-point deduction.
Initially, it was believed the 30-month ban would only extend to Italian football but that has now been extended.
In a statement to The Guardian, the footballing body confirmed that “following a request by the Italian FA (FIGC), the chairperson of Fifa disciplinary committee has decided to extend the sanctions imposed by FIGC on several football officials to have worldwide effect.”
The ban could be lifted in the future should Juventus and Paratici be successful with their appeals but until then it is another headache for Daniel Levy at Tottenham Hotspur just days after the exit of Antonio Conte.
