According to the Portuguese outlet Record, Cardiff City is on the verge of appointing a Portuguese manager Vitor Campelos as their new head coach.
The 48-year-old manager, who recently left his position at the Portuguese side Chaves, is eagerly awaiting the green light to finalize the agreement.
The Portuguese outlet reports that Cardiff City has shown a keen interest in acquiring the services of the talented Portuguese coach.
Mehmet Dalman, the chairman of the club, has been a strong advocate for Campelos' arrival. However, the final approval rests with Vincent Tan, the club's principal investor.
Cardiff City has been out of the Premier League since the 2018/19 season and finished in the 21st position in the recently concluded Championship season, narrowly avoiding relegation.
In an effort to rejuvenate the team and potentially secure promotion back to the top flight, the addition of Vítor Campelos to the coaching staff is seen as a strategic move.
Prior to his departure, Campelos spent the last two and a half seasons at the helm of Chaves, a Portuguese club.
Last season, he successfully guided them to the Portuguese First Division, and in the most recent season, Chaves achieved a commendable seventh-place finish, including a historic victory over champions Benfica.
