Reports from Germany suggest that Kai Havertz is on the brink of joining Real Madrid in what is being described as a "mega-deal" from Chelsea.
Following the departure of star striker Karim Benzema after an impressive 14-year tenure, Chelsea's Havertz has emerged as an unexpected candidate to fill the void left by the Frenchman.
German outlet Bild has revealed that the agreement between Real Madrid and Chelsea is very close to happening for Havertz to join Los Blancos.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti and President Florentino Perez are reportedly both admirers of the talented forward, and given Chelsea's willingness to sell Havertz, 23, an agreement with Real seems imminent.
Havertz was one of the most highly-rated prospects in the world when he joined Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 for a whopping £75 million.
Despite making an impact in his debut season, notably scoring the winning goal in the Champions League final, the German forward has struggled to maintain consistent form.
As a result, Chelsea has made the decision to listen to offers from Havertz after just three years at the club, as they undertake a squad overhaul this summer.
