Chelsea have confirmed the signing of promising Ecuadorian midfielder Kendry Páez.
The 16-year-old has played just a handful of times for Independiente del Valle but is already one of the most highly-rated prospects in South America.
Most recently, Páez was part of the Ecuador team that made it to the last sixteen of the World Cup where his side were defeated by South Korea. The soon-to-be Chelsea player scored once in his four games at the tournament – in a 9-0 thrashing of Fiji in the group stages.
Páez won’t be available to join up with Chelsea just yet though, with the Blues having to wait until the player turns 18 before he can officially represent the club. Until then, they can rest assured that they have secured the future of a promising young player.
