Aston Villa confirm permanent Coutinho exit

Aston Villa have confirmed the permanent departure of Philippe Coutinho to Brazilian side Vasco da Gama.

The Villans confirmed a deal has been made between themselves and Vasco for the move with the club also wishing the player well: "Everyone at Aston Villa would like to thank Philippe for his service to the club and wish him all the best in his future career."

Coutinho initially joined Villa on loan from Barcelona midway through the 2021/22 season and made an instant impact, securing a full transfer the following summer.

However, Coutinho struggled to make an impact after his permanent transfer to the Premier League side, later joining Qatari side Al-Duhail on loan before his loan to former club Vasco.

In the 2025 Brazilian season, the 33-year-old has played 26 games in all competitions, scoring five and assisting three.
