Baleba stunner bags important win for Brighton

Carlos Baleba produced a spectacular late winner to seal all three points for Brighton in a thrilling five-goal contest at the Amex Stadium.

The midfielder curled a superb shot into the top corner deep into stoppage time, swinging the match decisively in Fabian Hurzeler’s favour and ending the Seagulls’ run of six Premier League games without a win.

Yasin Ayari had put Brighton in front during the first half with a brilliant long-range effort, but a spirited second-half fightback from West Ham appeared to have flipped the match.

Mohammed Kudus brought the visitors level shortly after the break with a close-range strike, and Tomas Soucek then powered in a header to put the Hammers ahead.

However, Brighton hit back once more through Kaoru Mitoma, who slotted in the equaliser to set up a dramatic finale.

With the final whistle looming, Baleba unleashed a fierce drive from outside the area that flew past Alphonse Areola, sealing a dramatic victory for the hosts.
