Bhoys clinch title at Tannadice

Celtic clinched their fourth straight Scottish Premiership crown — and their 13th in the last 14 seasons — after dismantling a below-par Dundee United side at Tannadice.

Brendan Rodgers' men only needed a draw to seal the title but did it in emphatic fashion, making the Northern Irishman the most successful living Celtic boss with 11 trophies, trailing only legends Willie Maley and Jock Stein.

Just as they had celebrated Ange Postecoglou’s maiden league triumph at this venue three years ago, thousands of Celtic supporters witnessed yet another title wrapped up well before the halftime whistle.

Nicolas Kuhn’s second of the day — Celtic’s third — marked their 100th league goal of a remarkable season and extinguished United’s early spark.

Adam Idah then added two more after the break — one with a header and another with a low finish — putting Celtic 5-0 up before the hour mark and leaving United looking broken, despite a promising opening spell.

The breakthrough came when Ryan Strain turned the ball into his own net under pressure from Jota, who was later substituted with what appeared to be a knee issue. Kuhn’s quick brace followed shortly, both set up by Daizen Maeda, effectively ending the contest.

Before kick-off, Rodgers had challenged his squad to surpass the 106 league goals scored by his invincible treble-winning team from the 2016-17 campaign.

With four matches remaining and just five more goals needed, that target now looks well within reach — and likely to be exceeded.
