Sheffield United took a big step towards the Championship play-off final as they defeated Bristol City 3-0 away from home.

The third-placed team always went into this two-legged tie as favourites but they may not have expected to have the semi-final potentially wrapped up after one game.

The key moment of the game came just before the break when Rob Dickie brought down Kieffer Moore in the box with no intention to play the ball that led to his straight red card and a penalty to the Blades.

Harrison Burrows stepped up to take the spot-kick and sent Max O'Leary the wrong way to give his side a one-goal advantage at the break.

At this point, Sheffield United were a goal ahead with a man extra and they increased their lead in the 73rd minute when substitute Andre Brooks found himself in space to finish from close range.

It was 3-0 soon after. This time it was a corner delivery from the right that Bristol City didn't deal with which eventually led to Callum O'Hare to finish from close range to make it 3-0.

The Robins will now need a miraculous performance if they want to book a Championship final spot that already feels like it is United's to lose.
