Brewer Burrell among L1's most prolific in 2025

Burton Albion secured League One safety last night courtesy of a 1-1 draw at home to Wigan and their goalscorer at the Pirelli Stadium has played a big part in the Brewers' latest great relegation escape.

Rumarn Burrell may not have played regularly prior to December, but he has made up for lost time with 11 League One goals, as Burton have rallied since the appointment of Gary Bowyer in December.

At one point in January, Burton were 11 points adrift of safety, but the Brewers have strung together 10 wins since the turn of the New Year to power clear of the drop zone.

Burrell has spearheaded the League One club's successful survival bid and his close range finish against Wigan showcased his predatory instincts in the penalty box - only two players (Sam Nombe, 9, and Kyle Wootton 8) netting more goals in the division this season from inside the six yard box than the 24-year-old former Cove Rangers striker (7).

Impressively, Burrell's hot form in 2025 means only one player has out-scored him in 2025: Leyton Orient loanee Charlie Kelman (15).

Safe from relegation, Burton and Burrell can attack their final game of the season - the Brewers travelling down to the capital to take on a Charlton Athletic side preparing for the play-offs.
