Christie and Adam notch as unconvincing Scots beat Gibraltar

2024/06/03 19:43

Steve Clarke’s Scotland recorded a 2-0 win over Gibraltar as they warmed up for EURO 2024 - their preparations for their opening game against Germany disrupted by a potential injury to defender Liam Cooper.

The Scots controlled the game from the first whistle, but were generally lacklustre in their attempts to break down their outclassed opponents.

In the first period, Clarke's side were unable to break the deadlock and registered only two shots on target.

Scotland eventually made the breakthrough just shy of the hour mark when Bournemouth's Ryan Christie brought down a pass from Andy Robertson before smashing home from close range.

A testing evening for the Tartan Army took a turn for the worse on 77 minutes when sub Liam Cooper had to come off with what could be a problematic injury.

Southampton forward Che Adams added a little gloss to Scotland's evening, however, when he doubled his side's lead after John McGinn had capitalised on some sloppy Gibraltar defending.

The Scots will now face Finland in their final warm-up game before they face Euro 2024 hosts Germany at the Allianz Arena a week on Friday.

As a Scotland fan, I'm pleased with the 2-0 win against Gibraltar. But we need to up our game if we want to compete against Germany in EURO 2024. Concerned about Liam Cooper's injury, hoping it's not too serious.

Great win for Scotland, but worrying news about Liam Cooper's potential injury. Hopefully it's nothing serious and he can recover in time for our opening game against Germany. Fingers crossed!

As a Scotland fan, I'm thrilled with our 2-0 win over Gibraltar. Despite a lacklustre performance, we managed to break the deadlock and secure the victory. However, I'm worried about Liam Cooper's potential injury disrupting our preparations for our opening game against Germany. Fingers crossed he recovers quickly!

As a Scotland fan, I'm relieved to see a win against Gibraltar before EURO 2024. However, our performance was lacklustre and Liam Cooper's injury is concerning. Hoping for a quick recovery!
