David Raya or Matz Sels: who will win the Golden Glove?

David Raya pulled off a string of top saves to keep Newcastle at bay and earn his 13th clean sheet of the season last Sunday.

That put the Spaniard level with Nottingham Forest’s Matz Sels in the race for the Premier League Golden Glove going into the Final Day.

Sels looked set to take the lead with a 14th shutout at the London Stadium on Sunday, but a late goal from Jarrod Bowen, meant the Belgian stayed on 13, keeping the battle wide open going into the final day.

Given the fixtures, Raya may now have the edge. The Gunners are up against bottom side Southampton, while Sels faces a tougher task trying to keep Chelsea out as both teams are still have something to play for.

The award could also be shared between the two keepers if both concede on Sunday.

Regardless of who comes out on top, the total is set to be one of the lowest ever for a Golden Glove winner. Joe Hart holds the record for the fewest clean sheets to win the award, with 14 back in the 2014/15 season.

Should Raya win it, it would be two in a row for the Arsenal goalkeeper, who finished with 16 clean sheets last season.

Sels, meanwhile, would make a bit of club history if he comes out on top - becoming the first Forest player ever to win one of the Premier League’s three ‘Golden’ awards: the Golden Boot, Golden Glove, or Playmaker.

He’d also be just the second Belgian goalkeeper to claim the Golden Glove, following in the footsteps of Thibaut Courtois in 2016/17.
