According to self-proclaimed football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, there is a possibility that goalkeeper Ederson departs Manchester City during this summer’s transfer window.
It has been reported that the 30-year-old ‘keeper is assessing his options with several Saudi Pro League clubs and other European clubs showing an interest in the Brazilian international.
Ederson is heading into the penultimate year of his deal at the Etihad Stadium and it does not appear that an extension to his contract is close.
Ederson began his career at Ribeirao before joining Rio Ave in 2012 and then moving to Benfica between 2015 and 2017. After a couple of years in Lisbon, he moved to Manchester City for a fee believed to be in the region of £35 million.
Whilst with the Cityzens, Ederson has collected 332 appearances across all competitions and he has been crucial in winning six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four EFL Cups, two Community Shields, a UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup.
He recently showed real aggression at being forced off with what was eventually diagnosed as a fractured eye socket in City’s 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur last week. He missed their final day clash with West Ham and is expected to miss the FA Cup final against Manchester United. He has also been left out of Dorival Junior’s Brazil squad for the 2024 CONMEBOL Copa America this summer.
