Preview
You can't say that Rotherham United didn't deserve to go down last year considering the Millers won just 27 points from 46 games.
It was a dire season by any measurement. Rotherham fans won't want to be reminded about the fact they won just five league games all season while scoring a paltry 37 and conceding a mighty 89 to end up with a goal difference of -52.
However, that's in the past now and it's up to Steve Evans – who rejoined the club in April of last year – to get the club back into the second tier.
Rotherham were relegated well before Evans came in of course but judging by the squad he has right now there is an excellent chance that the club's stay in League One is only a temporary one – although it is likely to be a very competitive 2024/25 campaign.
There have been some big changes in the squad, like captain Sean Morrison leaving but overall the Millers team looks strong enough for League One. There have been new defenders brought in and potentially a striker who can cure the team's goal-scoring troubles.
Key man: Jonson Clarke-Harris
Jonson Clarke-Harris is a proven goalscorer but he struggled to hit the top numbers he has previously during Peterborough United's 2023/24 campaign.
The 30-year-old scored 9 goals in 34 games last season but he is capable of much more. Indeed, looking back from 2018/19 onwards (when Clarke-Harris was at Bristol Rovers) his numbers have peaked and dropped: 13, 31, 12, 26, 9...
So maybe Rotherham are due a big season from the striker this time.
