Kane nets winner in England's narrow win over Andorra

Harry Kane was the difference-maker once again as England scraped a 1-0 win over Andorra to keep their perfect start to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers going.

The Three Lions dominated from the off, hogging the ball with nearly 83% possession in the first half and racking up ten shots, but couldn't make any of them count before the break.

The crowd didn’t hold back either, giving Thomas Tuchel’s side a bit of stick as they went off at half-time goalless against a side sitting 173rd in the world rankings.

Things picked up just five minutes into the second half, though. Curtis Jones picked out Kane in the box and his first shot was blocked by keeper Iker Alvarez, but Noni Madueke pounced on the rebound and whipped in a low cross that the skipper tapped home from close range.

England had a golden chance to double the lead right at the death. A quick counter saw Morgan Gibbs-White send in a great ball, but Anthony Gordon couldn’t get the final touch, and somehow Madueke missed a sitter in front of an empty net.

In the end, it wasn’t pretty, but the three points keep England top of Group K with nine points from three games. They’re back in action on Tuesday in a friendly against Senegal at the City Ground.
