England keeper could leave Burnley this summer

Liverpool, Newcastle and Chelsea track Trafford

Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford is reportedly attracting interest from a trio of top-half Premier League sides, in the wake of the Clarets' relegation to the Championship.

The 21-year-old stopper joined Burnley from Man City last summer for £15m and made 28 top flight appearances in total.

Despite keeping only two Premier League clean sheets during his time at Turf Moor, Trafford is still very highly regarded and has been named in Gareth Southgate's provisional 33-man squad for the Euros.

However, it is understood that Burnley are open to cashing in on Trafford to help finance investment in other areas of the squad, and Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle are reportedly all interested.

A TEAMtalk article suggests that the Blues are seeking to add further competition to their existing squad, but - according to Football Insider - Liverpool and the Magpies are the two potential frontrunners in the race for Trafford's signature.

Both clubs are believed to have prioritised the signing of a 'top second-choice goalkeeping option' to provide cover for Alisson and Nick Pope respectively.

Both Liverpool and Newcastle are understood to have contacted Trafford’s representatives to express their interest in the player, and formal offers could materialise in the coming weeks.

Trafford's former employers Man City will be keeping a close eye on developments given that a 20% sell-on clause was inserted in the young keeper's contract when he signed for Burnley.

As a football fan, I'm not surprised to hear that other Premier League clubs are interested in Burnley's goalkeeper James Trafford. Despite their relegation, he's been a standout player and has even made it into the England squad for the Euros. It's a shame to see Burnley potentially cashing in on him, but it's understandable if they need the funds for other areas of their squad. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up, but I'd love to see him

As a football fan, it's quite disappointing to see Burnley potentially selling such a promising young goalkeeper. But I understand the need to generate funds for the squad. It will be interesting to see where Trafford ends up and how he develops in the future.

As a football fan, I'm not surprised to see top clubs interested in James Trafford after his impressive performances for Burnley. It's a shame to see him caught up in the relegation, but I believe he'll bounce back in the Championship. Excited to see where he'll end up next season.
