Three released and five return to parent clubs

Nottingham Forest let eight players leave

      2024/05/21 16:18

Nottingham Forest have confirmed that three players, Wayne Hennessey, Felipe and Cheikhou Kouyate, will be departing the club at the end of their respective contracts this summer.

Both Hennessey and Kouyate joined Forest on free transfers from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2022, whilst Felipe arrived for a nominal fee from Atletico Madrid later on in the same transfer window.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were deducted four points last season due to a breach of Profit & Sustainability Rules after signing 30 players in the 2022/23 campaign and then continuing a similar approach last summer when eight players arrived at the City Ground on the final day of the summer window.

Five of their signings this season were season-long loanees and it has been confirmed that none of those five deals will be extended or made into a permanent transfer.

Gonzalo Montiel, Nuno Tavares and Divock Origi arrived from Sevilla, Arsenal and AC Milan respectively last summer, whilst Gio Reyna, of Borussia Dortmund, and Sporting CP’s Rodrigo Ribeiro signed in January. All five players will now return to their parent clubs.

There are strong suggestions Forest will, like last summer with the sale of Brennan Johnson to Tottenham Hotspur, be forced into a big money sale this time around to line-up with financial rules. Morgan Gibbs-White has been linked with the aforementioned Spurs, as has Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Sad to see these players leave Forest, especially after the deduction of points last season. Good luck to them in their future endeavors, hopefully the club can make better transfer decisions in the future.

As a football fan, I'm disappointed to hear that three key players will be leaving Nottingham Forest at the end of their contracts. Hennessey, Felipe, and Kouyate were all valuable assets to the team and it will be a loss to see them go. But with the club's history of breaching financial rules, I can't say I'm surprised. It's a tough situation but I'm hoping the remaining players can step up and fill the void.

As a Forest fan, this news is disappointing but not surprising. These players were only here for a short time and didn't make much of an impact. Hopefully, we can make better signings this summer and finally get back to where we belong.

As a football fan, I am disappointed to hear that Wayne Hennessey, Felipe, and Cheikhou Kouyate will be leaving Nottingham Forest. They were important players for the team and their contributions will be missed. It's a shame that their contracts are ending, but I trust the club's decision and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

As a Forest fan, I'm disappointed to see Hennessey, Felipe and Kouyate leaving the club. They were all important players and their departures will leave a void in the squad. However, it's no surprise given the club's financial struggles and the need to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules. Hopefully, the team can still find success with the remaining players and new signings.
