Norway midfielder overcomes 'small issue'

Odegaard fit for Bayern clash

It has been confirmed that Arsenal captain Norway international midfielder Martin Odegaard has been with the squad involved in full first-team training on Tuesday morning.

The 25-year-old Drammen-born playmaker has been described by Fabrizio Romano as looking ‘fine’ after a ‘small issue’ that forced him off against Aston Villa in Arsenal’s surprise 2-0 loss at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

It is therefore expected that the former Real Madrid midfielder will be available to start against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in the second-leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie on Wednesday evening which is delicately poised at 2-2.

Odegaard has been instrumental for Arsenal in recent seasons as Mikel Arteta cultivates a Gunners side that are once again involved in a Premier League title race as well as the last eight of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in over a decade.

Aside from Odegaard, Arsenal have no other fresh injury concerns or suspension issues for the game against Bayern so Arteta will be able to name his strongest eleven.

There is a possibility that Netherlands international defender Jurrien Timber could return to the first-team this season but the former Ajax man is not yet ready.
