Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana saved a stoppage-time penalty as Cameroon beat Cape Verde 4-1 in Marc Brys’ first game in the dugout for the Indomitable Lions.

Vincent Aboubakar scored twice as Cameroon eased to victory over the Afcon quarter-finalists, as Belgian coach Brys made a comfortable start to his tenure - despite previous rows between the country's football federation (Fecafoot) and its Ministry of Sport over his appointment.

The result in Yaounde was made all the more emphatic by Onana's 94th-minute penalty save from a Kevin Pina penalty - the victory moving Cameroon back to the top of qualifying Group D in their quest to reach the 2026 Fifa World Cup.

After three games, the Indomitable Lions are level on seven points with Libya, but lead their group on goal difference.

Great win for Cameroon! Aboubakar was on fire with his two goals and the whole team played with determination and spirit. Brys' debut as coach couldn't have gone any better. And wow, what a save by Onana in the final minutes! This shows the dedication and talent of the team. Excited to see where they go in the World Cup qualifiers.

Great start for Cameroon under new coach Brys! Aboubakar with a brace and Onana with a crucial penalty save in stoppage time. Back on top of our qualifying group, things are looking good for the World Cup.

Wow! What a start for Marc Brys with the Indomitable Lions. Vincent Aboubakar's brace was impressive, but that last-minute penalty save by Onana was exceptional. As a fan, I can't wait to see what else this team can achieve under Brys's leadership.
