Philippe Coutinho joins Vasco da Gama on loan

Aston Villa have announced that midfielder Philippe Coutinho has joined Vasco da Gama on a season-long loan.

The 32-year-old Brazilian is returning to his homeland with the aim of reigniting his career at the club where it began.

Coutinho, still the third most expensive player in history after his £142 million transfer from Liverpool to Barcelona in 2018, has struggled with form and injuries.

The Brazil international initially joined Villa on loan from Barcelona in January 2022, before making the move permanent in July 2022.

However, after falling out of favour at Villa Park, he spent last season with Qatari side Al Duhail, where he scored eight goals and provided three assists in 23 games.

Disappointing to see Coutinho's career take such a downward turn but glad he's getting a chance to reignite it at Vasco da Gama. Hopefully he can regain his form and make a comeback. Good luck, Coutinho!

As a football fan, I'm excited to see Coutinho return to his homeland and reignite his career at Vasco da Gama. Hopefully, he can recapture the form that made him the third most expensive player in history.

Aston Villa breaking the news that Coutinho is going to Vasco da Gama, oh man what a disappointment. I had really high hopes for him when he joined Villa, but he just couldn't find his form. Hopefully this move back to his homeland will help him get back on track. Good luck, Coutinho!

Disappointing to see Coutinho not making the cut at Villa, especially after his record-breaking transfer. Hopefully, a change of scenery will bring back his top form. Best of luck at Vasco da Gama!
