We move swiftly on to a midfield dynamo making a name for himself in League Two: Walsall's Isaac Hutchinson.

Since their relegation to League Two in the 2019/20 season, the Saddlers have struggled to challenge in the top half of the table, but they are currently still in the play-off picture this term in what is an incredibly competitive division.

Mat Sadlers' Saddlers are currently just three points shy of a play-off spot, and Hutchinson has played a key role in propelling them to greater heights this term.

The former Derby County academy graduate has built on his promising numbers (eight goals and seven assists across all comps) and elevated his game further in 2023/24 to become one of the most productive midfielders operating in League Two.

The 23-year-old has already reached double figures for both goals and assists across all competitions this season (13 goals, 10 assists), and is just one assist away from a coveted 'Double Double' in League Two, with 10 goals and nine assists. Currently only MK Dons' duo Dan Kemp and Alex Gilbey have managed to reach double figures for both goals AND assists in the fourth tier.

Walsall boss Sadler, for one, has been impressed by Hutchinson's development this season, stating back in September:

"He is relentless, he has got an engine that is unrivalled – I don’t see anyone who can keep running at the same pace he does.

“He’s a real threat and his finish is top-drawer, he hits it and it stays hit.”

As a football fan, I can't wait for the end of the 2023/24 Championship, League One and League Two campaigns! The promotion and relegation battles are making it so exciting to watch. Can't wait to see who will be the heroes and villains in the remaining games. @Playmaker, love your annual countdown of the EFL's best performers, even though it's always controversial. Just remember, it's all about the stats, not just the players' skills
