Porto stun Gunners with brilliant late goal

Arsenal's Champions League's hopes hang in the balance after a wonderful injury-time strike from Galeno earned Porto a 1-0 win in the two sides' last 16 first-leg at the Estádio do Dragão on Wednesday night.

A cagey affair with few clear-cut chances looked destined to end in a stalemate until Porto winger Galeno seized onto a loose ball in the third minute of added time and curled a wonderful right-footed effort past David Raya in the Gunners' goal.

Although opportunities were at a premium, Porto should have taken the lead in the first-half when Galeno's shot hit the post and he inexplicably put the rebound wide. Nico Gonzalez also fired over the bar for the hosts in the first period, but both sides failed to find fluency in a gritty encounter.

The Gunners, meanwhile, failed to muster a shot on target throughout the game, although both William Saliba and Kai Havertz headed presentable chances wide from corners and Leandro Trossard fired over from a Declan Rice set-piece.

Primeira Liga side Porto will now fancy their chances in the second leg at Emirates Stadium on 12 March, although Arsenal will hope to overturn their deficit to reach the Champions League last eight for the first time since 2009-10.

xG: Porto (1.21) 1-0 (0.44) Arsenal

As an Arsenal fan, I'm gutted by the result against Porto. We needed to secure a win and now our Champions League hopes are hanging in the balance. Galeno's injury-time strike was a killer blow. Tough match, but we need to bounce back in the second leg.

As a football fan, my heart is pounding with excitement after that stunning injury-time strike from Galeno. It's a tough blow for Arsenal's Champions League hopes, but I have to give credit where credit is due. Porto played a solid game and deserved the win. Can't wait for the second leg!

As an Arsenal fan, I can't believe we let Porto score in injury time. Such a disappointing result, our Champions League hopes are hanging by a thread now. Gutted.
