Ralf Rangnick will not be the next Bayern Munich manager after electing to stick with the Austrian national team.

The former Manchester United interim manager had been in talks with the Bavarian club but has instead elected to stay in his current role.

"I am the Austrian team manager with all my heart," the 65-year-old said on his decision to stay with Das Team.

"This job gives me an incredible amount of pleasure and I am determined to successfully continue on our chosen path."

"I would like to emphasise that this is not a rejection of FC Bayern, but a decision for my team and our common goals. Our full concentration is on the European Championship. We will do everything we can to get as far as possible there!"

With Rangnick no longer in contention, Bayern will now have to look elsewhere for their successor to Thomas Tuchel. According to the bookies, Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi is currently the favourite candidate for the job.

Disappointing news for Bayern Munich fans as Rangnick chooses to stay with Austrian national team. He's clearly dedicated to his current role and has his sights set on the upcoming European Championship. Bayern will need to find a new manager, with De Zerbi as the frontrunner according to bookies.

Wow, what a surprise! I had my hopes up for Ralf Rangnick to become the next Bayern Munich manager, but I guess he's decided to stick with Austria. Can't blame him though, being the national team manager must be a dream job. Good luck to him and Das Team in the upcoming European Championship! Bayern will have to find a new candidate now, maybe Roberto De Zerbi Let's see who they choose.
