According to self-proclaimed football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Stade Rennais have agreed a deal with Birmingham City to sign young midfielder Jordan James.
It has been reported by Romano that a fee was agreed on Thursday and the Welshman will now travel to France to complete his medical and all the paperwork ahead of the move.
It is unknown as to what the fee for James is but it was reported that a move of around 4.5 million euros to Atalanta fell through during the January transfer window.
20-year-old James, who has 11 caps for Wales but also represented England at U20 level, has been one of the standout lights for City in recent years, despite their relegation down to League One last season.
The Blues have spent well over £10 million this summer as new coach Chris Davies and the Birmingham hierarchy try to bounce back from their shock relegation last season.
Birmingham begin their League One campaign on Saturday evening as they take on Reading at St Andrews. They have brought in the likes of Ryan Allsop, Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Alfie May, Emil Hansson, Alex Cochrane, Willum Thor Willumson, Christoph Klarer, Marc Leonard and Luke Harris this summer.
