The Portuguese legend found the net in the 60th minute of the Nations League final against Spain, levelling the match before later being substituted.

This historic goal adds yet another milestone to Ronaldo’s remarkable career as the previous record had stood for decades, with the other players on the podium dating back to the 1950s and 60s.

Pierre Kalala of the Democratic Republic of Congo previously held the record, having scored in the 1968 Africa Cup of Nations final against Ghana at the age of 37.

Just behind him was Sweden’s Nils Liedholm, who scored at 35 years and eight months in the 1958 World Cup final against Brazil.

Now, at 40, Ronaldo sits at the top of that list - a testament to his enduring class and longevity at the very highest level.
