All of the managerial changes in the 23/24 season

The managerial turnover in the EFL & Europe

2024/05/30 20:48
E5

The managerial merry-go-round is one of the most bizarre things in modern football and this summer has continued to only support the fairly unusual and difficult to understand life of modern football management.

Chelsea parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino, despite an excellent finish to the season, in order to bring in Enzo Maresca, who has never coached in a top-flight league, whilst Bayern Munich have opted for their supposedly eighth choice Vincent Kompany, who was relegated with Burnley this season after spending over £100 million on the Clarets’ squad in the Premier League.

With Pep Guardiola reportedly leaving Manchester City this time next year and Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool this summer with the likes of Xavi Hernandez and Thomas Tuchel both also out of work; there is perhaps a decline in the elite managerial game at the moment.

So, with dynasty’s and era’s ending or perhaps just beginning, this is a look and comparison at the amount of managers sacked or those that resigned across Europe’s six major leagues this season as well as a look at the EFL…

Now, here is a look at every single managerial change (on a permanent basis) across the three divisions of the EFL and, as clubs seem desperate but struggling for consolidation, just how disjointed and lacking in cohesion the hierarchies in the Championship, League One and League Two really are…

As a football fan, I can't believe some of the decisions being made by top clubs. It's like they're just throwing darts at a board and hoping for the best. What happened to stability and giving managers time to build a team

As a football fan, I can't help but feel frustrated and confused by the constant changes in managerial positions. It seems like clubs are more interested in making flashy and unpredictable choices rather than sticking with proven and successful managers. The recent decisions by Chelsea and Bayern Munich only add to the chaos and unpredictability of modern football. It's a shame to see talented managers like Pochettino and Klopp potentially leaving top clubs, while unproven managers like Maresca and Kompany are given opportunities

Wow, the managerial merry-go-round in modern football is just insane. Chelsea letting go of Pochettino for an unproven coach like Maresca And Bayern choosing Kompany, who just got relegated And now Guardiola and Klopp leaving their top teams Looks like the elite managers are struggling right now.

As a football fan, I can't understand the decisions being made in the managerial world. Why let go of successful managers like Pochettino for unproven ones like Maresca And why are clubs like Bayern Munich going for inexperienced options like Kompany It seems like there is a decline in the quality of elite managers at the moment.

This is just getting ridiculous. Pochettino had a great finish to the season and gets sacked, while some unknown coach gets brought in. And what's with Bayern Munich picking a manager who couldn't even keep Burnley in the Premier League Where are the elite managers going
