Thierry Henry has announced France's preliminary men's football squad for the upcoming Olympic Games Paris 2024.
Kylian Mbappe, who is widely anticipated to join Real Madrid after his contract with Paris SG expires, will be absent as he was not included in the squad announced.
Despite expressing his desire to participate in the Games back in March, the 25-year-old will not feature for the hosts.
Included in the preliminary squad are former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette, Crystal Palace pair Jean-Philippe Mateta and Michael Olise, PSG’s highly-rated midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery, and Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel.
According to competition regulations, each team must consist solely of players born on or after Jan. 1, 2001 (aged 23 at the time of the Games), although up to three players born before that date can also be selected.
Les Bleus have previously clinched two medals at the Olympic Games, securing silver on home soil in Paris in 1900 and gold in Los Angeles in 1984.
France has been drawn into Group A for the Olympics, where they will face the United States, Guinea, and New Zealand.
