Timber to return to PL2 action

According to journalist Simon Collings of the Evening Standard, Jurrien Timber will return to action for Arsenal’s under-23 side this evening as they face Blackburn Rovers in Premier League 2.

It is the next step on Timber’s rehabilitation after suffering an Anterior Crucial Ligament (ACL) injury back in August and not having been involved in any football since then.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has not ruled out the possibility of the 22-year-old returning to the Gunners’ first-team fold before the end of the season.

The versatile defender has only played one game for Arsenal so far this season after joining the north Londoners for a fee believed to be in the region of £34 million from Eredivisie giants Ajax last summer.

Internationally, Timber represented the Netherlands at U15, U16, U17, U19 and U21 level and he has been capped 15 times for Oranje’s first-team.

Arsenal were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Bayern Munich last week and there are only five games left of their season as they currently sit at the top-of-the-table in the Premier League with Manchester City having a game in hand.
