Trossard earns Arsenal draw against Bayern

Arsenal have bad memories of playing Bayern Munich having lost 5-1 in each of their last three encounters.

But this game was always likely to be different considering the different trajectories of Thomas Tuchel's Bayern and Mikel Arteta's Gunners.

That difference was evident early on with Arsenal having plenty of the ball and taking the lead in the 12th minute. The England international finished a fine passing move with a curling effort that Manuel Neuer couldn't get to.

But the home side let Bayern back into the game after a mix-up at the back that led to the visitors winning the ball back and setting away former Arsenal Sèrge Gnabry to apply the finishing touches.

The German side took the lead from the penalty spot after a surging run from Leroy Sané that William Saliba impeded forcing Swedish referee Glenn Nyberg to point to the spot.

Harry Kane has always loved a goal against Arsenal and he got another from the penalty after that challenge with a cool spot-kick that fooled David Raya.

Kane didn't cover himself in glory in the second half when he was awarded a yellow card for an elbow as he backed into Gabriel – the former Tottenham Hotspur man was lucky it wasn't a different colour.

With Arsenal trailing, Mikel Arteta made the decision to bring on Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard – a decision that proved to be inspired as both linked up for the equaliser.

Jesus' quick feet in the box mystified the Bayern defence allowing Trossard to apply the finishing touch as Arsenal made it 2-2 in the 76th minute.

There was still time for late drama with Kingsley Coman having an effort from close range bounce off the post.

As the game entered the final seconds, fans were screaming for a penalty after Saka went down in the area as he rounded Neuer. The referee though immediately waved away the decision – one that was vindicated with replays showing that the Arsenal man had put his leg out to initiate the contact with Neuer when he would have been wiser to stay on his feet and potentially slot home a late winner.

Regardless, a 2-2 result sets up what will almost certainly be a thrilling contest when the two sides face off in Munich next week. But first, Arteta's team have a difficult weekend fixture with the visit of Unai Emery's Aston Villa.

Wow, what a start by Arsenal! Great goal from Saka and we're ahead against Bayern! But we really need to tighten up at the back, that mix-up was costly. Come on Arsenal, let's get back in the lead and show Bayern we mean business!

As a fan of Arsenal, I have to say that it's disappointing to see them lose to Bayern Munich once again. Our recent encounters with them have not been in our favor, and this game was no different. However, it was promising to see us take the lead early on and have control of the game. But a mix-up at the back cost us and Bayern took advantage. The penalty call against Saliba was questionable, but we have to accept that it was given. Hoping for

As a dedicated Arsenal fan, I have to say the anticipation for this game was high. We've had some tough encounters against Bayern in the past, but I had hope for a different outcome under Arteta. Sadly, despite a strong start and a great goal from our English star, we let them back in and ultimately fell short. It's disappointing, but we'll come back stronger.

Fans of Arsenal, this game had the potential to be a real nail-biter, but it seems our team is once again facing disappointment against Bayern Munich. Despite taking an early lead, we couldn't hold onto it and our defense made costly mistakes. It's frustrating to see our team struggle against a strong opponent like Bayern, especially after our recent successes. But we can't lose hope, let's continue to support our team and hope for a better result next time.

As an Arsenal fan, this is just another disappointment against Bayern Munich. We always seem to struggle against them. But with Tuchel at the helm, Bayern is just on a different level than us. Thankfully, we had a strong start and took the lead, but our defense once again let us down. We need to improve if we want to have a chance against top teams like Bayern.
