Valiant Stockley tops EFL for headed goals

The stats show that headers are tougher to score than shots with either foot, but there are some strikers across the top four tiers who make it look easy - and Port Vale's Jayden Stockley is among them.

Vale fans were celebrating last weekend as their side won 2-0 at AFC Wimbledon to secure promotion back into League One at the first time of asking, and striker Stockley scored the Valiants' opener with a typically opportunistic header.

The 31-year-old has been an established performer in the EFL for many years now and Stockley's keen aerial ability is a key weapon in his armoury.

After his strike versus the Dons, Stockley has now scored seven of his 11 League Two goals (64%) this season with his head, which means he has nodded home more league goals than any player in 'The 72' in 2024/25.

In fact, only one player in 'The 92' can match Stockley when it comes to scoring headed goals this season: Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood, who has also swooped on seven occasions.
