Bologna forward has been key for Thiago Motta

Zirkzee potentially back on Bayern radar

Former Bayern Munich CEO and now member of the supervisory board, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, refused to rule out with the Bavarians would be making a move to re-sign Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna this summer.

It is believed that the German giants have a buy-back option in the deal that saw Zirkzee leave the Bundesliga for Serie A in the summer of 2022.

The option has been suggested to be in the region of 40 million euros but Rummenigge didn’t want to be drawn onto it, suggesting that is a decision to be taken and carried out by new Sporting Director, Max Eberl.

“It’s up to Max Eberl, I don’t want to enter his job. I don’t know if we will activate the clause for Zirkzee or not. It will be a part of our summer strategies.”

The 22-year-old has been a key part of the Bologna team that, under the management of Thiago Motta, are currently sitting in the top four and pushing for UEFA Champions League qualification in Serie A.

Eberl, who has previously worked at Borussia Monchengladbach, recently stated that mega money deals such as last summer’s acquisition of Harry Kane will not be something Bayern will or at least should be pursuing anymore.

Great news for Bayern fans! Zirkzee could potentially be making a return to the club this summer. Fingers crossed that we activate the buy-back clause and bring him back to Germany. Our attack could use some fresh talent and Zirkzee has been performing well in Serie A. Excited to see what our summer strategies hold.

As a football fan, I'm excited to see what happens with Zirkzee and whether Bayern Munich will activate the buy-back clause. It would be great to see him back with the Bavarians, but ultimately it's up to Max Eberl to make that decision. Regardless, Zirkzee has been performing well in Serie A and it's interesting to see how he will continue to develop under Thiago Motta at Bologna.
