Independiente del Valle wins and overtakes Grêmio

Independiente del Valle beat Grêmio in a close win on Wednesday, 1x2, in a match relating of Libertadores. In this competition, Alexandre Mendes's team came from a defeat, and Renato Paiva's team came from two wins. Christian Ortiz was the main player.

The first goal was scored by Jean Pyerre in the 22nd minute, with a right-foot strike from outside the box. With 45 minutes already played, Christian Ortiz struck for Independiente del Valle, from a direct free kick.

After 63 minutes, Grêmio saw Maicon get sent off due to accumulation of yellows.  Christian Ortiz netted the last goal with 66 minutes on the clock with a left-foot shot.

Thanks to this result, Independiente del Valle are through to the next round of the competition. With regard to the next fixture, Sangolquí's team will host Defensa y Justicia.
