Schalke 04 lose out to FC Köln

FC Köln overcame Schalke 04, 3x1, on Sunday, on matchweek 1. Both Köln's team and Gelsenkirchen's team held their first game in the competition.

After 35 minutes, Dominick Drexler left the game early after seeing a red card. The first-half ended without any goals.

The first goal of the game was scored by Luca Kilian, with a right-foot shot inside the box, after the break. After 65 minutes, Florian Kainz struck the second goal for FC Köln, with a right-foot strike inside the penalty area. With 76 minutes on the clock, Marius Bulter struck for Schalke 04, laid on by Thomas Ouwejan. In the 80th minute, Dejan Ljubicic scored the last goal of the match, through a header inside the penalty box, assisted by Jan Thielmann.
