Last weekend, Fulham maintained their position at the top-of-the-table in the Championship by coming from behind, away from home, to defeat playoff-chasing Stoke City by three goals to two.
Those three goals meant The Cottagers had scored 22 goals in their last four games after winning 7-0 against Reading, 6-2 against Bristol City and 6-2 against Birmingham City.
Marco Silva’s relentless and ruthless attacking machine have now managed to score 73 goals in just 27 games so far this season. That is an average of 2.7 goals per game meaning they are on course to score 124 goals this season.
The second division record for goals in a season was set by Peterborough United in the 1960-61 campaign. Posh hit 134 goals in that campaign. The highest of the Championship era is 106, set by Reading in the 2005-06 campaign.
Fulham look destined for automatic promotion this season with the West London club sitting eight points clear of AFC Bournemouth in third place.
Given that, we have decided to look at last five seasons in the Championship and the top two in each of those seasons’ goal scoring records – just to see where Fulham rank already among those.
