Alexandre Lacazette has rejoined boyhood-club Olympique Lyon from Arsenal on a free transfer.
The 31-year old has signed a three-year deal with the Ligue 1 team, keeping him at the club until 2025.
Lacazette was signed by Arsene Wenger in July 2017 and went on to play 207 games for the Gunners, scoring 72 times. The Frenchman was also part of the team that won the FA Cup against Chelsea in 2020.
Lacazette’s return to Lyon has been in the pipeline for some time before today’s official announcement after contract talks with Arsenal stalled. Indeed, the Lyon statement says that the player “has been the club's priority for several months and is perfectly in line with the new strategy now set up within the institution.”
Under Mikel Arteta last season, Lacazette struggled for form and goals – scoring just five times in 30 Premier League games.
