Valencia have announced the appointment of Gennaro Gattuso on a two-year deal to be the club’s new manager.
Gattuso’s last job was at Napoli, where he led gli Azzurri to a fifth-placed finish – losing out on a Champions League spot to Juventus on the final day of the season.
Since then Gattuso has had an ill-fated spell at Fiorentina that lasted just two weeks after disagreements with the club’s board over transfers. He was also strongly linked to the Tottenham Hotspur job in another messy saga.
Things won’t get any less messy for Gattuso at Valencia, though. Owner Peter Lim might just be the most unpopular figure in the city and his management of the club has seen them look like a shadow of their former selves.
Valencianistas, let's experience this season with passion!
