According to German media outlet Kicker and Fabrizio Romano in The Guardian, goalkeeper Stefan Ortega could be set to join Manchester City this summer.

It is believed that the east Manchester club have a ‘verbal agreement’ with Stefan Ortega, who is set to depart Arminia Bielefeld this summer after the expiration of his contract.

The 29 year-old German has played for 185 league matches across two spells for Arminia Bielefeld, playing for 1860 Munich, too, in between those two different spells with the recebntly relegated German club.

The deal is reportedly waiting on Zack Steffen to find a club. The 27 year-old is keen to depart the Etihad in order to find regular first-team football and establish himself as the United States’ number one in Qatar at the end of the year at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Ortega would become City’s second summer signing after they bought Erling Braut Haaland from Borussia Dortmund last month. They are also heavily linked with Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella and Leeds United’s midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

It is expected to be a very busy summer for the reigning English champions with the likes of Nathan Ake, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus all linked with moves away.
