Erik ten Hag's life in the Premier League got off to a terrible start as Manchester United lost 2-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford.
Action: Despite a flat first-half performance by the hosts, it was in fact Man Utd, who had the first chance in the game, after just six minutes, but Bruno Fernandes blazed over the bar.
After Fernandes' chance, Graham Potter's men completely dominated the game in Manchester.
With 30 minutes on the clock, Danny Welbeck got away from Harry Maguire and hit the ball into the six-yard box where an unmarked Pascal Gross tapped it into the net.
The German midfielder added both his and Brighton's second just nine minutes later, after Solly March took a shot which was saved by David de Gea, but on the rebound Gross made no mistake.
With substitute Cristiano Ronaldo already on the pitch, Man Utd reduced the deficit with 20 minutes to go in a scrappy way.
Seagulls goalkeeper Robert Sanchez failed to clear the ball from a corner and the ball hit Diogo Dalot and rolled down his body and towards the goal. Alexis Mac Allister and Sanchez trying to clear it, played the ball off each other and into their own net.
After the goal, the Mancunians struggled again to find away to reach Brighton's goal and failed to level the game as Brighton deservedly takes all three points from Manchester.
Big Picture: Erik ten Hag seemed to bring some fresh air to Old Trafford, but the same problems remain. Obviously, there's a long road ahead of him and plenty of time to turn things around, but he's job doesn't look very easy...
Both teams will now play next Saturday, with Man Utd travelling to the Brentford Community Stadium, while Brighton will host Newcastle United.
xG: Man Utd (1.20) 1-2 (1.65) Brighton
Stat of the Day: Erik ten Hag is the first Manchester United manager to lose his first Premier League game in charge since Louis van Gaal in August 2014 against Swansea City.
