The Belgian title race went down to the wire and Royal Antwerp clinched their first national title in 66 years thanks to a remarkable last-minute goal from former Tottenham player Toby Alderweireld.
Heading into the final play-off match, three teams were in contention for the title: Royal Antwerp, Union Saint-Gilloise, and Genk.
Antwerp and Union were level on points, with Genk trailing by one. Union held a 1-0 lead against Club Brugge and seemed poised to claim the championship, but they suffered a devastating collapse, conceding three late goals and giving Genk an opportunity, who were leading 2-1 at the time.
However, it was Toby Alderweireld's extraordinary strike in stoppage time that sealed the precious draw for Antwerp and silenced the home fans.
With this dramatic goal, Antwerp secured the title by a mere one-point margin, surpassing both Genk and Union Saint-Gilloise to become the champions of Belgium's Jupiler Pro League after a 66-year drought.
