Julian Nagelsmann is expected to be confirmed as the new Germany manager in the next few days taking over from Hansi Flick.
Flick was fired in the wake of Germany’s 4-1 defeat to Japan with Rudi Völler overseeing Die Nationalelf’s 2-1 win over France.
Nagelsmann is expected to give up compensation owed to him after being sacked by Bayern Munich last season to take up the role with. The 38-year-old coach won 57 of his 81 games in Bavaria but was replaced at the club by Thomas Tuchel.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has said that the agreement between the DFB and Nagelsmann is now on the verge of completion, giving it his trademark ‘here we go’ catchphrase.
Nagelsmann could potentially oversee his first Germany game as early as next month with games against the USA and Mexico to be played in October.
