Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved a milestone by scoring a minimum of 40 goals in 12 different calendar years.
The 38-year-old reached the 40-goal mark for the year 2023 during Portugal's 5-0 victory against Bosnia and Herzegovina in a Euro 2024 qualifier on Monday evening.
The Portuguese star opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the fifth minute, marking his 39th goal of the year.
His 40th goal was secured just 17 minutes later, as he artfully chipped the ball past goalkeeper Ibrahim Sehic after an assist from João Félix.
In 2023, Portugal's no. 7 has now scored nine goals for Portugal in his seventh international appearance of the year. At club level, Ronaldo has netted 31 goals in 36 games for Al Nassr since January.
What's even more remarkable is that the former Manchester United has now surpassed the young goalscoring machine Erling Haaland (39) in terms of goals in this calendar year.
