Everton made a winning start under their new manager Frank Lampard with a 4-1 victory over Brentford in the FA Cup.
It took half an hour for the Toffees to take the lead when Yerry Mina headed in from a corner.
Richarlison doubled Everton’s lead three minutes after the restart, burying his shot past Brentford goalkeeper David Raya – who recovered from his injury to made his first appearance since October.
The Bees pulled one back through a 54th-minute penalty. Ivan Toney won a penalty when he was brought down by Jordan Pickford – the forward then making no mistake from the spot.
But Everton were the better team at Goodison Park and they increased their advantage from a corner kick once again. This time it was Mason Holgate heading in from close range.
Andros Townsend put the icing on the cake for Lampard in stoppage time to confirm Everton’s passage into the next round and give his new manager a superb start.
The perfect start for the new boss. Top performances all over the pitch and Goodison at its very best!
