FC Basel wins and overtakes Anorthosis

FC Basel triumphed over Anorthosis, 3x2, on Thursday, in a match relating of Europa League [Qual.]. In this competition, Ciriaco Sforza's team came from a win, and Temuri Ketsbaia's team held their first game in the competition.

In the 3rd minute, Silvan Widmer opened the scoring for FC Basel. With 12 minutes on the clock, Samuele Campo fired home Basel's team's second goal, with a left-foot strike from outside the box. In a very unlucky moment, Hambardzumyan scored an own-goal after 21 minutes. In the 45th minute, Branko Vrgoc struck for Anorthosis, with a right-foot shot.

After seeing his second yellow card after 50 minutes, Tornike Okriashvili was sent off and left Larnaca's team with 10-man.  Giorgi Kvilitaia netted the last goal after 67 minutes from the penalty spot. In the final minutes of the game, Ciriaco Sforza's team saw Julian von Moos get sent off due to accumulation of yellows.

With this result, FC Basel are through to the next round of the competition. In the next fixture, Ciriaco Sforza's team will host CSKA Sofia.
